Duncan joined Mellor Olsson’s Litigation and Planning team as a Law Clerk in early 2016, before moving to the role of Solicitor following his admission to practice.
He works closely with Partners and other senior practitioners in the area of planning law, providing advice and assistance to Councils for a wide range of matters arising under the Development Act, as well as appearing in the ERD Court for enforcement proceedings and applications for review.
Duncan’s versatility has also led him to work across a wide range of commercial and civil litigation matters, assisting in debt recovery, building and contract disputes, lease and property disputes, and estate litigation. Duncan’s accounting background has given him an appreciation of the importance of achieving commercial outcomes for his clients, and an intricate understanding of various financial documents. His experience with an array of complex legal matters enables him to quickly grasp challenging and unusual concepts, to work towards a positive outcome for his clients.
In addition to the ERD Court, Duncan regularly appears in matters in the Magistrates Court of South Australia, as well as both the District, and Supreme Courts. Duncan is also well versed in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, having resolved several complex litigious disputes.
Duncan’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide, in addition to a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
